As you all know, Apple released iOS 8.1.1 beta for developers on November 3. After evaluating the comments and reports from developers, Apple finally released iOS 8.1.1 to the general public on Monday. According to the company, this is only a minor update which contains few bug fixes and several performance improvements. The objective of this is the stability of the operating system.This update is supported for iOS devices running iOS 8.0.x – iOS 8.1. Such as, iPhones, iPads and iPod touch devices.
However, it has been advised not to update using this, if you have jailbroken your iOS device. Because, it has earlier reported this iOS 8.1.1 update patch the exploit used for Pangu jailbreak tool.
- This update is made available for OTA method (over the air). To update with this, simply go to “Settings” — >> select “General” —– >>> Tap on “Software Update”. That’s all.
- Otherwise, you can update your device with Mac or Windows PC. Simply connect your device to your PC using a USB cable, then open iTunes. When a pop up prompted, tap on “Upgrade”.

The oldest supported iPhone for iOS 8.0 is iPhone 4s. Which means the Apple Company stopped the support for the iPhone 4 with its latest operating system iOS 8.0. It’s really interesting to see that Apple still take care of 3 year old iOS devices such as, iPhone 4s and iPad 2.
Since this iOS 8.1.1 only arrives with few bug fixes and performance improvements, it is rumored that in near future Apple will release iOS 8.2 or iOS 8.3. And some rumored as the Cupertino based company is working on them at the moment. Because, some features meant for iOS is not yet out, such as improvements of Maps and split-screen multitasking for the iPad.
