Apple has released the latest version of its mobile operating system, iOS 8 for iPhones and iPads. Now iOS 8 is made available to be downloaded from all iPhones after the 4S and latest iPads.Now you can download the latest iOS 8 via the settings app (Go to Settings, select General,select Software Update) or via iTunes. And also iOS 8 will be shipped with its latest iPhone 6 and 6 Plus.
iOS 8 arrives with many new features
iOS 8 arrives with a new addition called Handoff. The Handoff lets you to initiate a program, such as replying to an email, composing an email, composing a text message, etc…. For example, you can start on one device and then complete it on another device.
It is a new feature of Apple’s Messages app in iOS 8. And it support auto-correct suggestions when you are typing something.
New iOS 8 allows you to install third-party keyboards, TouchID fingerprint scanners, etc. in iOS 7 these keyboards, scanners accounted for nearly 80 percent of purchases at App Store. And widgets created by independent developers also can be downloaded from App Store.
Apple has introduced two all-new initiatives named as HealthKit and HomeKit.
The new HealthKit functions as a data repository for your health-related information. It can store your steps count, the quantity you have eaten, etc…. the HealthKit allows other apps to access information from it and deposit the data gathered by those apps.
The newly introduced HomeKit offers a similar service. Developers allowed to integrate controls for light dimming, door locking, other home automation devices and features in iOS apps. Hence, various connected devices can be controlled from one place. Siri also can be used for this. You do not need to switch between different apps.
However some features are only specific to the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, such as newly introduced Apple Pay. Apple Pay is a mobile payments service, that operates with the NFC chip in new iPhones. It will be launched in October 2014.
