A well-known hacker, iH8Sn0w had declared via Twitter that he has been able to untethered iOS 8 jailbreak on A5 devices. He had worked on iPad 3. And he informed the followers that he had been working on iBoot code execution on the iPad 3 and that he had been successful.
At the beginning of the year 2014, he informed us that he had found a lifetime jailbreak for all devices on the A5 chip, using an iBoot exploit.
iPad 2, iPad 3 and iPad mini, iPhone 4S, iPod Touch 5 and Apple TV 3 are the devices contain the A5 chip.
- A4 devices ( iPhone 4,iPad,iPod touch 4G )
- A6 devices ( iPhone 5,iPhone 5C..)
He has also announced that the weakness had not been fixed in iOS 8. However this does not mean, it will not be fixed in the future. The iBoot exploit is the second most important exploit, after the Bootrom exploit that was discovered in A4 devices.
- Another hacker known as Winocm, has been able to decode the iBoot on the 64-bit iPhone 5S that has an A7 processor. However many people consider this news has arrived too late. Even though iOS 8 is could be installed on the A5 devices, but the devices in use are very few compared to the A6 devices and later.
Very few iPhone 4S owners had complained that iOS 8 has reduced the performance of their iOS devices. But that number may reduce further, since many users are downgrading iOS 7.1.2.
- At the moment both Pangu and Evad3rs are working on an iOS 8 untethered jailbreak. Both teams have said they will release it as soon as possible. Since more people upgrade to iOS 8, latest jailbreak for iOS 8 is the most wanted thing.
